Training:  State frequencies and KCĜEEC:

v     There are RACES frequencies assigned for each state for voice and morse code in case of emergencies.

v     The State EOC call is KCĜEEC and is located at the STARC armory in Johnston.

v     Iowa State assigned frequencies are 3990.5 Khz  and 7250 Khz

v     If there were a statewide activation of the RACES system, these would be the frequencies used.

v     For voice, there are 5 frequencies assigned for Voice operation.

v     E.g. 3990.5 is assigned to 10 other states: Vermont, Rhode Island, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, Michigan, Colorado, Arizona and Idaho.

v     Our State EC discovered this during the Y2K exercise when other states showed up on the same frequency.

v     I discovered this as I checked into a Colorado Net being conducted on what I thought was the “Iowa” frequency.

v     These frequencies are primarily for coordination or control.  Traffic should be passed on other frequencies.
